Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs are one of the most historic ice hockey franchises. This franchise has its roots in the Creamery Kings. The early Renfrew franchise played in the NHA in 1910 and 1911. This franchise closed in 1912 and restarted a year later as the Toronto Blueshirts. They were sold to Eddie Livingstone in 1915, who already owned a separate Toronto franchise called the Shamrocks.

In 1917, the NHA reorganized into the NHL and denied Eddie Livingstone his franchise. The players were given to a new temporary franchise called the Toronto Arenas. In 1919, they were sold and renamed again the Toronto St. Patricks. In 1927 they were sold to Conn Smythe and renamed a final time to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
